What percentage is fair?

HCG Injections for Weight Loss
Shronn asked:

I need some advice!! I’m changing jobs again (the clinic I work for is going out of business and I have a new venture but, like I said, I’d love to get your opinions on a few things. I know..I’m long winded here….

I’m not really sure where to start. A year ago we started doing the hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) protocol as a weight loss aid. Now that the clinic I’m working for is closing (as of this week), there’s another Dr. here in town that would like me to head/start an hCG program there at her clinic. We’ve talked on the phone briefly and the doctor I currently work for has talked to her for me as well.

Ooooookay, we have been the only clinic with in a 40 mile radius that’s done the hCG program and it has done really well and I do most of the work. I order the hCG (under the doc’s name) from a compounding pharmacy, mix it, draw it up into injections, package it and consult with the patients before, during, and after the program. We offer 4 and 6 week program lengths at a time….. The doctor does the initial consultation and I take it from there with weekly weigh-ins and I give the pt’s my cell to text or call anytime, my email, and my work number (24 hr nutrition services). The doctor told me I can take all the literature materials and protocols after we close here.

This other dr. in town wants me to rent out one of the offies in her building for the program. She wants to be involved in educating the pt’s and distribution of the hCG injection shots and B12 shots.

She asked me to “crunch some numbers” and come up with a percentage that I need to make from the hcg…. Her first offer was 20%…I think that’s low and the dr I work for think it’s low…. but I have nooo idea what’s fair..

I just need to get my head wrapped around the main points…. She told me to take into consideration that I’ll be using one of her exam rooms, she wants to hire a full time receptionist at minimum wage for her clinic and she says that same receptionist can do my scheduling, internet service, website advertisement, online auto pay, and a phoneline. She also said that I should reserve some money for my own assistance in the future…

She said to come up with a “worst case senario” of what I can earn a month….

I would be coming into her already established business (medical spa/salon) and bring a protocol that works, all the protocol materials and a long list of pt’s ready to start the diet (about 20) and a growing list. We’ve been getting about 6 calls a day in regards to the hCG program because it’s spreading like wild fire here (ha).

I will need her one day a week for consultations and distributions and I will probably work mon, wed, fri with new consults…

I also have the current dr I work for, and another one whp’s a friend of mine that have both told me they would be willing to be the doctor if I wanted to start my own (very small) weight loss clinic).

Uuuuuugh…. What’s fair?? What kind of questions do I need to ask??

As usual, any advice would be great…
